What's up you rad science kids!
Join us this week as we survive the apocalypse alongside everyone's favorite singer/songwriter, Will Smith, in the 2007 zompire move, "I Am Legend."
We discuss the treatment of cancer using viruses, touch on the science of vampirism, and win pizza for life!
Next week, we're coming at you with a sciencetastic review of Guy Pearce's bad bad brain in Christopher Nolan's "Memento!" Send us your questions on the science of memory, or just any old thing, and we'll pretend like we remember enough neuroscience to answer!

Ep. 11 - Re-Animator
Wednesday Feb 28, 2018
Wednesday Feb 28, 2018
What's up you nerds of the living dead!
This week, we watched Stuart Gordon's 1985 horror film, "Re-Animator!"
We cover what we can in this madness and break down how things glow, the history of lobotomies, and have you every really thought about death, ya know? We also completely lose our minds over Avatar-themed pasta.
Join us again in two weeks when we watch Will Smith "let's go save the world" in I Am Legend! Send in your questions, and we promise we won't absolutely butcher them on air.

Wrestle down and bond with your very own weird bat lizard and embark with us upon a magical journey through the world of James Cameron's 2009 blockbuster, Avatar!
This episode, we discuss cryogenics, convergent evolution, and Pace muses on a scientific explanation for why everything and everyone on Pandora is so damn blue.
Next week, we'll be watching the 1985 gift to humanity, Re-Animator, for a February 27th release! Get those question machines powered up and fire them at us over the internet!

Ep. 9 - The Happening
Tuesday Jan 30, 2018
Tuesday Jan 30, 2018
What's happenin'!
This week, we sat down and watch M. Night Shyamalan's 2008 movie about spooky wind, "The Happening! (Not Elliot Silverstein's "The Happening," which was about hippies I guess?)
While Marky Mark and Zoe Deschanel run away from...gusts, the boys talk about chemical signaling from plants, diffusion, and Pace gives us a run down on neurotransmitters! We also put 2017 on BLAST.
NEXT TIME we're gonna watch James Cameron's "Avatar," and TRY to find something to talk about, releasing in time for Valentine's Day!
Hit us up with questions on twitter (@reelsciencecast) or at reelsciencecast@gmail.com!

Ep. 8 - Gattaca
Tuesday Jan 16, 2018
Tuesday Jan 16, 2018
Happy New Year, listenerds!
We're starting off 20collabor18 with a special guest on this episode, Tori Makal!
The four of us sat down and watched Ethan Hawke masquerade as the genetically perfect Jude Law, while climbing the ladder at the high security space exploration facility, Gattaca. The crew talks about genetic sequencing technology, practices of sequencing in the medical field, and the ethics of gene manipulation! Pace finds new people to hate, and Tori and Kennon annoy Sean until he BREAKS.
We'll be sitting down next week to watch Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch beat up some plants or whatever in The Happening! Hit us with questions and expect that episode to drop on January 30th!

Ep. 7 - Split
Tuesday Dec 19, 2017
Tuesday Dec 19, 2017
McAvoy, Ahoy!
Join us this week during our holiday double header, as we tackle the divisive M. Night Shymalan flick "Split!"
We explore the world of Dissociative Identity Disorder, muse on the surprising ease with which Jimmy McAvoy procures military-grade knockout gas, and discuss top-down regulation of the human body!
The boyz will be taking a brief hiatus to end the centuries-long oppressive rule of Kris Kringle, but we'll be back next year with special guest, Tori Makal, to discuss GATTACAAAAAAAAA!

Ep. 6 - The Andromeda Strain
Tuesday Dec 12, 2017
Tuesday Dec 12, 2017
*RAP SIREN*
We're coming in hot and a week late with this fire episode of Reel Science! The Boyz ventured into the bowels of Amazon Prime to view The Andromeda Strain, and delight in its special brand of 1971 techno-thrills. Listen in as we recount the tale of Ruth, super scientist and sass extraordinaire!
We compare and contrast the reactions of Team Wildfire to an alien disease with the (thrilling) drudgery of modern disease identification, discuss safety protocols and biosafety levels when studying pathogens, and Pace gives us a explanation of prion diseases! As a bonus, Sean places a curse upon our podcast forever by opening a Crystal Pepsi during recording, making for a riveting two minute segment of audio content.
Since this episode got out a week late, there will be another episode out next week on Dec. 19th! We're sitting down to watch the James McAvoy vehicle Split, so get at us with questions!

Tuesday Nov 21, 2017
Ep. 5 - Osmosis Jones
Tuesday Nov 21, 2017
Tuesday Nov 21, 2017
Good morning, nerds!
On this loooooong episode, the boyz sat down to digest Osmosis Jones, the 2001 romantic comedy starring Chris Rock and David Hyde Pierce, who team up to prevent Laurence Fishburne from murdering Bill Murray. Trust me, it makes more sense in the movie. Sort of.
Get ready to cover some gross bodily functions and viral pathogenesis! We go through a little bit of how the human body reacts to foreign pathogens, talk about treating viruses vs. bacteria, and issue a formal apology to Kristin Wiig.
We'll be watching The Andromeda Strain in a week and airing it on December 5th, so get to watching and send your questions in!

Tuesday Nov 07, 2017
Ep. 4 - The Martian
Tuesday Nov 07, 2017
Tuesday Nov 07, 2017
Greetings from Planet Science!
The gang sat down and watched Matt Damon accidentally colonize Mars, in the 2015 movie adaptation of The Martian, by Andy Weir. There was WAY too much science for three people with ADHD to cover in a single episode, so hit us up with questions on twitter or email and we'll try and answer them on air!
Listen to our gripping, barely qualified assessment of Dr. Damon's ability to re-enact Stardew Valley on alien terrain!
Thrill, as Sean and Kennon discuss the finer points of radiation damage during space travel!
Gasp, as Michael Pace is very rude to America's favorite comedian, Kristin Wiig!
Tune in again on Nov. 21st, when we'll be discussing Osmosis Jones!

Tuesday Oct 24, 2017
Ep. 3 - The Day After Tomorrow
Tuesday Oct 24, 2017
Tuesday Oct 24, 2017
Hail and well met, science adventurers!
This episode, the crew sits down to watch Roland Emmerich’s 2004 love letter to bad weather, The Day After Tomorrow. We cover weather phenomena, climate science, and the unbreakable bond between Dennis Quaid and his son, the Quiz King himself, Jake Gyllenhaal.
Chief Meteorologist Michael Pace takes us through the proper Pacing for climate change in reality vs. fiction, while Sean and Kennon try and understand how hurricane wind structure is able to freeze the giblets off of New York City.
The next episode will be up on Nov. 7th, when we’ll be discussing The Martian!
